It’s time for summer sewing, and our Summer 2023 issue has projects to sew for the whole family! The cover features the Emmi Tyler Heirloom Dress & Slip designed by Connie Palmer. Inside the pattern envelope that comes with the issue, you will find the Emmi Tyler dress and slip patterns, as well as a pattern for the Play on Pleats Baby Dress & Bloomers designed by Charlotte Potter. Let’s take a closer look:
Connie Palmer has been challenging sewists with her heirloom designs for years. This is another one of her amazing designs that will be a journey in techniques. Take it step-by-step and enjoy making this dress. When you are finished, you will have a masterpiece! The dress is delicate, intriguing, and has countless design elements to delight sewists. The slip can lend support to the dress or be worn as its own summer dress. The patterns for the dress and slip are included in the issue’s pattern envelope in sizes 2–6. The machine shadow embroidery designs, which are select designs excerpted from the Kathy Drew Heirloom II Collection, are included in the issue downloads.
Charlotte Potter has been designing children’s clothes for years and always uses the most unique techniques and embellishments. This dress features a great technique of couching the rickrack with a contrasting thread, giving the appearance of waves. Three tiny buttons adorn the front yoke while the back is buttoned from the neckline to the hem. Gathered sleeves flutter with the summer breeze. They are a nice finishing technique for the armhole, but their real value is comfort! The pattern is included in the issue’s pattern envelope in sizes 3M–24. Kits are also available for this ensemble!
In addition to these projects, this issue includes many more summer projects you will love sewing. Explore the creativity of summer sewing with this fabulous issue.
