Katrina’s Postcard Club

16

Today was the first meeting of 2024 for our monthly postcard club. The theme was Birthday cake. Mine is the first picture and the card I got back in return is the second photo. This was made by my lovely friend Chris. I particularly like the teeny tiny bunting she has appliquéd at the top . Such a talented lady.

Let me give you a little bit of background to our club. We first started this in February 2019. Our first theme for a fabric postcard was “Love”. We went away and during the month we each produced a fabric post card measuring 6 inches by 4 inches. We met up again to do the swap and to choose the theme for the following month. There was of course coffee and cake at this meeting and this is as much a part of the meeting as the card swap itself!

Each card was put into an envelope and a number put on it. Then we each took a corresponding number so no one knows which card you’re going to get. Then we take turns in opening our envelope and the person who has made the postcard describes what inspired them and how it was made. We each get to keep the card as our swap.

This swap happens every month. We even carried on during the COVID lockdowns, doing a show and tell on zoom then posting the card to the chosen recipient.

We take in turns at choosing the theme for the next meeting and next month it’s “Fish” – so watch this space!

I hope that by reading this I have inspired you to set up your own group, share the love and creativity with your friends.

As always, have fun.
Love and Best Wishes,
Katrina
