Learning how to crochet a scarf is not as intimidating as it seems. A DIY scarf doesn’t only need a yarn and a hook to make one. It also needs a lot of patience. So, we’d like to help you get the important details you need to help learn it fast. And what we have right now is a detailed tutorial that will help you create a crocheted scarf from a simple knot! Keep reading below to learn the steaps.
For this crochet project, you’ll need:
- yarn- at least 200 yards
- scissors
- crochet hook– Size I
Step-By-Step Instructions:
Step 1. Make A Slip Knot
Start by adding a slip knot to your crochet hook.
Step 2. Chain Stitch On The First Row
- Chain 13 Stitches
- Add 3 more stitches
- Countdown into the fifth loop
- Yarn over and double-crochet.
- Repeat same stitch pattern all the way across.
Step 3. Chain Stitch On The Second Row
- Turn your work at the end once you’ve got 13 stitches from step 2.
- Make a 3 chain stitch, yarn over
- Double crochet into the fifth loop again.
- Continue until you’ve got 13 stitches on this next row.
Tip: As you come to the end of the row – the last stitch number 13, you’ll find it quite hard to get through both loops, so you have to yarn over and make crochet through one loop.
Step 4. Turn And Stitch
Turn your work and repeat the step 3 step.
More tips!
Tip 2: This tutorial is 5 feet long – which is a good length for a scarf. But you can go for a longer and wider project.
Tip 3. At the beginning, chain more than 13 stitches and you can have a wider scarf.
Tip 4. When you’re done with your scarf, you can have a tail on either end of your scarf. Thread it through your crochet needle and through the scarf to hide the tail. Then trim off the end.
Voila!
And that’s it! Making a scarf has never been this easy and rewarding.
