An Easy as Pie Beginner Single Crochet

Every procedure starts from the basics. And the most basic crochet stitch is the single crochet. A lot of crochet patterns uses single crochet stitch. So if you’ll not learn how to do it, you’ll be missing a lot.

Start learning this easy procedure to enhance your crocheting skills.  You may not realize the advantage of acquiring this skill right now until you’re exposed to different crocheting patterns that need this basic stitch.

You’ll need:

  • yarn
  • crochet hook

Instructions:

Step 1. Make a Knot

Start by making a knot into the yarn.

 

Step 2. Insert the Hook

 

Insert the crochet hook into the circle that you want to work.

Step 3. Position the Yarn into your Right Hand

 

To hold the yarn, wrap it around your pinky finger going through behind your pointer. Then, hold it in place with your middle finger and thumb.

 

Step 4. Prepare to Draw a Loop

 

After inserting the crochet hook, prepare to draw a loop. Wrap the yarn over the crochet hook and pull through.

 

Step 5. Make a Chain

 

Continue doing the same procedure like you did on the last step (step 4). Again, you will need to hook and pull through until you make a chain of fifteen.

 

Step 6. Draw up a Loop

Insert the hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull the loop right through the stitch. You will now have two loops on the crochet hook.

 

Step 7. Repeat the ‘Hook and Pull’ Procedure

 

Now, look for the little hole and put the hook through there. Wrap the yarn around the crochet hook and pull that straight through. Continue doing the same step to the last crochet stitch.

 

Step 8. Second Row

 

When you’re done with the 15 crochet stitches, make one single crochet at the end of the row. Flip your work and start doing the same procedure from the last step (Step 7) starting from right to left.

Step 9. Continue the Same Procedure

Keep doing the same process until you get the length or size of whatever you wanted to make. Repeat the steps as many times as you need until you create something out of your single crochet stitches.

Keep practicing until you perfect them. It may be a little frustrating at your first try, but just keep on practicing until you make it perfect.
