Threading a sewing machine
Use this guide as a safe general sequence. Your machine manual takes priority because threading paths vary by model.
- Switch the machine off.
- Raise the presser foot and needle.
- Place thread on the spool pin.
- Follow the numbered upper-thread guides.
- Pass thread through the take-up lever.
- Thread the needle in the direction specified by your machine.
- Insert the correctly wound bobbin.
- Turn the handwheel toward you to bring up the bobbin thread.
- Pull both thread tails under the presser foot and test on scrap fabric.
